Re: Sorting by date on Samsung QLED TV
Actually, what Samsung and others do is as the protocol was designed. Sorting can be done at the server or at the renderer, but in any case the renderer is meant to "be in charge" of the sorting. UMS is the one that "breaks the contract" in that it doesn't return things in the or...

Re: Thumbnails generated incorrectly
I'd just like to add that usually, deleting the database is probably a very short-term solution. I'm pretty sure that the problem most of the time is because UMS doesn't have constant resource IDs, so that each time you restart UMS it will generate new resource IDs for all the media items. The UPnP ...

Re: java.io.IOException: An existing connection forcibly closed by remote server
I have no idea what the real problem is, but the IOExcepton is a red herring. All it means is that the renderer closed the connection when UMS didn't expect it to. What you really want to know is WHY the renderer chooses to close the connection. That could be anything really, and unless you can debu...

Re: devices can't find UMS DLNA
I guess that means that you'll have to try to configure the Cisco(s) differently. It's usually possible to get AP's to run "fully transparent", that is that they pass on all traffic without interfering.

Re: devices can't find UMS DLNA
You can run both Kodi and VLC (and probably others) as renderers running on the same (or any other) computer. Both have their issues with UPnP, but I think VLC has gotten better in later versions. Kodi's UPnP support seems to me like it has gotten worse since v16, but it might still work for testing...

Re: devices can't find UMS DLNA
It sounds like multicast isn't getting through. You write that they are on the say subnet, with usually means that there's nothing there to block multicast traffic. The question is what you mean by "same subnet", do you mean the same IP subnet? If so, no routing is involved and the only th...

Re: Transcoding everything except mkv only for one render
The whole idea of "disabling transcoding" is wrong. The way UMS works is that it will only transcode when the renderer doesn't support the media as it is. This means that the only thing you achieve by disabling transcoding is that some media files won't play. This setting is meant for debu...

Re: UMS is damaged and cant be opened
I suggested setting the attributes early on, and from what I understood you claimed to have already tried it and that it didn't work.beard runner wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 3:57 pm sudo xattr -cr /Applications/Universal\ Media\ Server.app worked!

Sure, that is one solution.
