I have an LG OLED65CX6LA. I have problems with 4k movies which an internal sub and when i put an external sub it won't read it. The weird part is if it has no internal sub it just read the external sub fine. I tried serviio and via usb and it doesn't have those problems. What settings do i have to change.I like ums more.

I don't see any renderers or attempt to play anything so cannot see what UMS is doing with the subs file.

Could you do new logs making sure to try and play a file you have problems with.

Nothing is being played so I can't see anything. Could you try again and make sure you play something you have an issue with first.

Having a look at the config for UMS, you have disabled the external subtitles

Code: Select all

# Load subtitles
# --------------
# Choose whether UMS should check for external subtitles files with the same
# name as the media (*.srt, *.sub, *.ass, etc.).
# Default: true
autoload_external_subtitles =false
Check the option in the Transcoding settings tab > Subtitles settings > enable "Force external subtitles"

In the transcoding settings tab I had "Force external subtitles" already enabled. Weird that in the config file it is on false. So i set it on enable. But have still the problem.

I'm not sure but I think there is a problem with the conf or the way UMS is handling the supported subtitles option.
If si: is defined it might be ignoring the SupportedExternalSubtitlesFormats.

I have made 2 confs for you to test to see if that is the case. First copy this to C:\Program Files (x86)\Universal Media Server\renderers and see if that is working.
(you may have to restart UMS)
LG-OLED subs test.conf
Removed si:ASS|SUBRIP from mkv

If that does work, delete that conf and try this one next
LG-OLED subs test 2.conf
added se:ASS|SUBRIP to mkv

I also noticed some interesting things in the logs:

Code: Select all

TRACE 2021-08-15 11:02:03.301 [HTTPv2 Request Worker 30] net.pms.configuration.FormatConfiguration The video bit depth "10" is not supported for this filetype, or all filetypes
I can't find any mention in the TV manual of whether higher bit depths like 10 and 12 are supported, but I guess it does based on your logs. So we can also add that to the config. Can you do that mik_s?

But yeah it is weird about the subtitles, it seems like a bug so I will be interested in the results of the testing too

No probs, I added them to the existing LG-OLED.conf
LG-OLED.conf
added SupportedVideoBitDepths = 8,10,12

@jappie18 if you want to try this version you will have to delete the test confs after you have made the logs, as I have given them a higher priority.
