Hi, I have UMS 5.1.1 for Mac.

I'm trying to stream .mp4 files to my Samsung TV, but all I seem to get is Unsupported file format.

This problem has returned.

.mp4 not recognized in 10.13.0 on Samsung Smart TV.

The unit is an older P55D Plasma but didn't have any issues until recently.

Also, if the files are re-encoded with Handbrake, they work.

Why would that be?

Your .conf file might need tweaked for the codec used in your MP4s, possibly they are using h265 when your TV can only play h264 and if the conf for that TV is old it may not know there is a difference.
Re-encoding them with handbrake will be converting them into a playable format, the same way transcoding works in UMS.

Will need log files to be of any help though, see the red section above.
