[SOLVED] Chipmunk audio with avisynth on some videos

Post by cpharlok »

Hi. First of all, thank you for that state of the art software that is UMS. I discovered it recently and I find it lovely. I use my main PC to transcode some videos with the truemotion setting, as my living door HTPC is a fanless, low spec PC that can not handle SVP by itselft, so I let my main do the math then UMS stream it to the little HTPC. So far works superb... except that some videos audio is "chipmunked", plays twice as fast as video. It happens when I use avisynth, does not matter interframe is used or not. If I use other engines audio is ok. Avisynth installed is 2.6.0 MT, the one that comes with UMS 3.3.

Also, mkv videos does not show subtitles.

What I tried so far with no luck:

Installing several UMS old versions: 1.1, 1.2.1,2.0,2.5,3.0,3.1,3.2 and the last one 3.3
Installing other avisynth builds with no luck. Errors or same effect as 2.6.0. MT
Upgrading java/drivers

Server running windows 7 x64 with some heavy suites like Adobe CS6, 3dMax and some video utils. K-Lite mega codec pack installed. Comodo security suit installed. All system stable and working ok.

Client is running XBMC, windows 7 x64. Nothing more.

Example videos played that I included in trace log:

Seems that fail when using avisynth and sound is AAC, but I have to check more videos to be sure.

Any help? Thanks!

Ok, solved it. I realized that the directshow audio decoder filter that was being used by default was the Microsoft one. Just changed it to LAV and audio is now fine on AAC.

Still, I cant get subtitles (ASS) to appear in none of the mkv videos if using avisynth engine. If I choose Mencoder they appear as usual.

Solved subtitle not showing. changed xy-vsfilter to vsfilter 2.41.322 (mpc-hc) and enabled subtitles in ffdshow

Where ?
I actually just want to find out WHERE is it that UMS is looking for the "vsfilter.dll" since it says it can't find it ...

This topic is 8 years old and has no bearing on how UMS works now.
At the time you had to install the K-like codec pack for the new codecs that were just started to be used that is now standard, things like MKV and H265.

I actually remember the "K-like codec pack" and installs from back then... I've been using UMS since then .

That does not change the fact that I still want to know exactly WHERE is the UMS looking for something it says it can't find {VSFilter.dll}.

WoW, I found it.
Put the file where it wants it to be, and VOILÀ !!!
Fixed a problem that HUNDREDS of users have posted about.
NO more "ERROR {or INFO} VSFilter / DirectVobSub was not found. This can cause problems when trying to play subtitled videos with AviSynth." Bullcrap
Downloaded the file from the guy who wrote it. Here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/gulive ... er%202.37/ unpacked it with
a FREE 7z utility from: https://www.7-zip.org/download.html.
Chose the "regular" NOT Unicode version.
Copied it and pasted it in the UMS directories {Win11}:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Universal Media Server\win32\interframe\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Universal Media Server\win32\dvrms\
Wasn't going to take any chances, and I was tired of having to Quit and restart UMS...
I also removed ALL unused "renderers" to a new folder named creatively enough "unused rends".
And I cleaned up some of the lines in the "Manual Config file"... removed something named "HSL" from in front or from inside some FFmpeg transcoding engines or where ever it was - just delete the "Hsl" and save, kill & reboot.
Very FAST start, very few lines in Log, NO PROBLEMS, NO ERRORS, NOTHING Missing or "Can't be found"
Works Great !!!
Looks Great too, now... except for that ridiculous internally generated "placeholder" folder.ico because it REFUSES to load the one that is actually in the folder.

Image

I made the left List column much wider so I could read the entire Title name, made the Column height 90% so as to force scroll bars {because as installed there were 2 Titles at the time NOT showing and NO scroll bar}, added some padding at the bottom of the list so the last Title would not get cut in half-off.
Put some extra space all around the UMS logo top/left, brought down the entire banner it resides in to meet the top of the list, moved the Search/Font/Settings position to the left to align with the "Breadcrumbs" link for downloading the folder as a playlist.
I'm still trying to figure out how to STOP the "hovered" text of the Title List from moving off screen to the left - WHO THE HELL THOUGHT THAT WAS A GOOD THING VISUALLY ???
It's alright that it inverts from black to white, it don't need to move anywhere... the word/link "Back" does the same thing. Stupid.

Now that think about it, I would LOVE to also be able to put my Server's Name {everyone should}, centered, in that big empty "navbar" header space between the UMS Logo and the "Search" icon...
BIG, about 85% as tall as the UMS Logo ... and in color.
