Playstation 4 not playing content

I'm having issues streaming to a PS4

UMS shows up fine on the PS4 under Sony's built in Media Player App which is on V4.01, when I click on a media file from my shared folder to play it it just comes up with the 4 Playstation symbols as if it's about to play but nothing happens.

I've left everything as default apart from my shared folder which has an mp4 American dad episode of about 30 mins in it...the file plays fine on my PC when I double click on it

That log is not helpful as it is not in trace mode. see the section above and attach the logs to your post.

I don't really see anything obvious. There has been a big change in the logging in V11 and I'm still trying to make sense of it so I could be missing something.

From what I can tell American dad should be streamed to the PS4. it is possible something is wrong with that file that will stop the PS4 from playing it.
Try playing from the #--Transcode--# and select "no transcoding", if that does not work try one of the other options.

The other file you have called stepmom is 4k so that has to be transcoded. If you have a PS4 pro it might be able to play it with a tweak to the conf but not sure if that is limited to playing on USB.

When it tries to play does it come up with a "cannot play media" message after about 20 seconds?

I know it's been a few months, but I've recently found changing the TranscodeVideo setting in Sony-Playstation4.conf to

possibly fixed all my issues with some files being unplayable. Could you try that out?

I've just tried that and I can confirm that my PS4 Media Player stopped giving errors! Thank you so much.
