Video player buffering

Post by SoNic67 »

I have this problem... if I log in to my server, from an outside IP address, and try to use the embedded video player, the video stutters/buffers like there isn't enough bandwidth.
However, if I choose to download the file, the speed is great, a file would download in seconds/minutes.

I have symmetrical internet connection (FIOS), with 300/300 Mbps.

What can it be a solution to my problem?

At a guess UMS is struggling to transcode the video fast enough as it will transcode everything using HLS to be used in the web player.
Depending on how powerful your computer is it might not be able to keep up. I know on my 2nd gen i7 struggles with this.
If you are downloading the file first then it is a straight download of the file with no transcoding needed.

If anything else is causing problems then I will need to see logs (see the section in red above).
