Dear UMS developers and maintainers,

I would love an option to be able to stream "cast" whatever is playing (going on) on my desktop through UMS using UPnP / DLNA to my compatible devices, but I cannot figure out how to do that. So, I would love it if you could add an option to the UMS sources or plug-ins (add-ons) for streaming, casting, the computer desktop using UMS. If you already know how to do that, please enlighten me with the exact procedures. Ideally, it would just be another option like "desktop" available when browsing what I want to watch.

I am using Linux Mint 19.x and Linux KDE Neon both are based on Ubuntu 18.04.

I did a lot of research into this which is still ongoing. There are various "ffmpeg" commands, using "vlc" and other media apps, using minidlna , etc...

I can easily capture my desktop using many applications and SimpleScreenRecorder is my favorite for that which can stream yo video hosting websites like YouTube, but I don't want to stream my desktop anywhere but to my UPnP/DLNA devices using UMS.

I found some older python programs, but I cannot get them to work. But, it may provide some helpful information.

Due to Microsoft’s acquisition and integration of the video game streaming service Mixer, it’s included as the default streaming option for both Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs. On the Xbox One, Mixer has a clear advantage over Twitch because it’s more tightly integrated into the Xbox OS and supports third-party USB microphones and cameras. Twitch does not.

If you don’t yet have a Mixer account, I’d suggest getting on a PC or Mac and signing up via the website instead. It’s a far less painful experience than using the Xbox’s on-screen keyboard.

Admitted, I don't know anything about casting your desktop specifically to DLNA, but i would look at: https://obsproject.com/
