[Solved] srt subtitles stopped working a while back

I seldom play movies that need subs but occasionally there will be some foreign (to me) dialogue and I used to just grab an srt file or the movie/TV Show would provide
an srt file. I'm now using UMS 7.6.2 and I got a film a week or so ago,that came with an srt subtitle. For reasons I don't understand UMS will not see the srt file. It is
the exact same name as the film and I've gone to subtitle sites and grabbed a few others...none worked. in the Transcoding Settings for MENcoder Video there used to
be an adjustment to autoload srt subs. I can no longer find such a button? is it no longer supported or just deemed unnecessary??
Seems I may need to find an older version of UMS or if possible a hard coded copy of Alpha.

Ok i hope i will get some help here in this thread.

I am searching for over 2 hours. read all i could read. I am trying to stream to my philips oled803tv

My problem is that i cannot set the greek language subtitle at all. Whatever i put in the subtitles priority or forced language fields i always have english subtitles on my video stream. I have an .srt file with the same name as the movie plus the -gre on its end.

as you can see in the picture i have used gre and forced language el ( used also gre there but nothing)

This is really strange because as it seems the media server streams subtitles properly to the tv. I need only to set my language there.

Are you sure that the subtitle not is internal in the video file.
I got the Philips 873, it cant show external subtiltes, like .srt

If the videofile have subtilte build-in it can show the subtitle.

With 7.6.2 my Samsung UE48H6600 is working againg with external subtitles
