I have a question about Setup
How do I go about setting up your program so I can stream my media through my IPad and Firestick and I looked on YouTube for a video guide and the only one I could find was 9 years ago
Re: I have a question about Setup
It should just work when you install UMS and chose your media folders to be shared as long as it is connected to the same local network.
You should be able to use an media player app to connect to UMS, there are confs for VLC on iOS devices.
Don't know about Firestick but will be the same for that. Look for the media player on that device.
There is a conf FireTVStick-VimuPlayer so you may have to install that app first.

Re: I have a question about Setup
I don’t understand something in the settings old ones it shows my media folders and I installed the VLC program on my Fire Stick it shows the program but it doesn’t show any video when I select my laptop and I can’t tell if the Universal Media Server is detecting my Fire Stick
Re: I have a question about Setup
If you look on the web interface you can see what is detected. You need to set up the shares here in the shared contend section.
If nothing is showing I will need to see logs to find the problem. See the section in red above.Logs are important for us to help, Please follow This Link before asking for support. Just a forum cleaner, Will help if I can but no expert.
Re: I have a question about Setup
Are you able to see UMS on your devices and see them on the web interface? I can see a Samsung TV and Denon AVR in the logs.
If it is just no files are showing I do see a database error and this would prevent anything from showing.
This sometimes happens when updating from a much older version and the database upgrade fails.
Deleting "C:\ProgramData\UMS\database\medias.mv.db" when UMS is not running will make it rebuild the database next time it is run.

Re: I have a question about Setup
I can see it in the VLC Player on my FireStick in that app but it shows no media at all so I don't think it is detecting my FireStick
Re: I have a question about Setup
you said to delete the database folder but I don't see a database file or folder in Program Files UMS
Re: I have a question about Setup
its "C:\ProgramData\UMS\database\medias.mv.db" not program files.
